My Approach

I practice primarily through a psychodynamic lens, meaning treatment typically involves an exploration of the entire person throughout the lifespan in breadth and depth. This form of therapy includes deep exploration of relationship patterns, the unconscious, and defensive structures. As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I believe that it is within the context of the relationship between therapist and patient that healing takes place. As such, I often encourage patients reflect upon the therapeutic relationship as a means to better understand how they relate to others outside of the therapy room.

I also integrate existential, humanistic, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based treatment into therapy depending on my patients’ needs. More specifically, I’ve found that a meaning-centered approach with an emphasis on identifying purpose in life, often enhances my patients’ wellbeing. Additionally, when coping skills are called for, I may integrate mindfulness and other Eastern practices into treatment.

RelationshiP Issues

Relationships can be one of the most fulfilling, yet most challenging aspects of our lives. I work with patients to gain insight into and navigate romantic relationships, friendships, and family dynamics.

Anxiety and stress

Many of my patients feel overwhelmed by the stress inherent in their daily lives. In such cases, I provide them with concrete tools and coping skills, like mindfulness, to manage their anxiety.

 
 

MeaninG-Centered Therapy

Through an existential lens, I work with patients who feel lost and are struggling to find their purpose. Together, we strive to identify and enhance a sense of meaning in their lives.  

Exploratory Work

I believe that therapy can be for the betterment of well people. This kind of work is insight-oriented, focused on understanding the self, strengthening relationships, and emotional growth.

Individual Therapy

Following an initial consultation to determine if we are a good match, I offer 45-minute psychotherapy sessions at least once weekly. 

Couples Therapy

I see couples for 1-hour long sessions. In certain circumstances, I may also see members of the couple individually if need be. 

Family Therapy

I meet with families for 1-hour long sessions. I may also meet with specific family members in different configurations on a case-by-case basis.

Speaking Engagements

I speak and lead experiential exercises based on my research on the complex relationship between love and death awareness.
